![]() "Grown-ups and kids all need a sweet treat sometimes, and Rick's Rather Rich Ice Cream offers classic flavors and new favorites. Made in-house, Rick's frozen yogurt and ice creams are indeed notoriously rich, and the small-business intimacy of the store is the cherry on top. Rick's recently expanded to include more indoor seating, but sitting outside with a cone after work or play is a quintessential Palo Alto summer experience. The quality and sheer variety of flavors (including adult favorites such as carob and honey, pistachio saffron and white chocolate ginger) has kept customers coming back faster than a speeding bullet for years." "Rick's is the ideal ice cream shop. Unique flavors, a clean and welcoming atmosphere
and friendly service make it a prized establishment in Palo Alto." Superb ‘micro creamery’
“Nothing’s artificial about the Banana ice cream…the ice
cream tastes exactly like a real banana, only smoother
and creamier.”…“The Black Walnut captured the earthy flavor of the
walnuts in an exquisitely creamy, delicate base. The Saffron
Pistachio was laced with threads of red saffron. The pistachios lent
the ice cream a slight savory flavor and the end result was bliss.”
San Francisco Chronicle
“… Rick’s is one the happiest places I know…people are smiling
from their hearts, not just because it’s good for business.”

“At this 1956 creamery, customers are sweet on the Kulfi, laced with a
bouquet of Indian aromatics from saffron and rose to almond and cardamom.”
(Note: there are pistachios in it, too)
Get up & Go
“Rick’s Rather Rich Ice Cream is touted by some
as dishing up the best in the world. With a menu as varied as its
clientele, Rick’s serves classics such as a beautifully minty Mint
Chip to the very exotic Rose (tastes like a rose smells) and White
Chocolate Ginger.”
Palo Alto Weekly
“…But the crème de la crème was, if you will is, the Industrial Chocolate,
made from chocolate ice cream, chocolate fudge and cookie dough. I
found it to be the best chocolate based ice cream around, and
certainly worth going back for.”
Gourmet Magazine
“Exotic flavors rule in this congenial parlor, but even such complexities
as White Chocolate Ginger and Saffron Pistachio engulf you foremost with
their creaminess. The difficult choice between wafer cone and sugar cone
necessarily goes to the former at Rick’s. While the sugar cone is tastier
and crunchier, it tends to collapse under the weight of this substantial
ice cream, while the wafer cone virtually merges with all the licks that
melt down into its vortex.”
